Episode name - Bina Kamath on Mentorship- An essential component for your Growth
About Bina Kamath –
Bina Kamath- Founder & CEO of Orion's Reach
Bina is CEO and Founder of Orion's Reach, a federal nonprofit based on a mentorship model. She is passionate about empowering women to achieve personal and professional growth and her ultimate goal is to develop a mentorship program in an effort to reach remote rural communities.
She started as a stay-at-home mom with two children and eventually realized she wanted to get into the workforce to make a name for herself. She took night classes while raising a young family to better herself and give her more of a standing to compete against a pool of applicants with more work experience.
Once she successfully entered the workforce, she didn’t rest on her laurels. Instead she relentlessly and tirelessly climbed the corporate ladder to achieve her goals and exceed everyone’s expectations. Bina sought personal growth and decided to volunteer her time for various charities and not-for-profit organizations. She also enrolled herself in many workshops and classes to learn more about leadership and the inner workings of not-for-profits.
She found her niche while encouraging others to find their passions in life and mentoring them every step of the way. Bina still has an insatiable appetite for knowledge and is always looking to learn something new. In her spare time, she solves MENSA puzzles and paints.
Orion’s Reach is truly a labor of love and her pride and joy.
Bina is a Board Member for Women in Leadership Foundation (national non-profit) and a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Board for KNOW Women (US based organization). She was also featured in the 2019 and 2020 KNOW books that spotlights authentic female leaders, creators and entrepreneurs.
She is a HR leader with a career spanning over 17 years.
Bina is a member of WEKH (Women Entrepreneur Knowledge Hub) community of practice - a Government of Canada funded initiative. She is also the proud recipient of the top mentor award for 2019-20 presented by CCIS in affiliation with the Federal Government.
